The
San Diego Chargers are a National Football League (NFL) team.
They play in the West division of the American Football
Conference. Wide receiver Eric Parker signed a one year contract
on Wednesday (May 19), that will keep him with the San Diego
Chargers another year. Parker, a exclusive rights free agent,
played in eight games last year before a season ending shoulder
injury kept him sidelined (Nov 2). He finished the 2003 season
with eighteen catches for 244 yards and three touchdowns.
He also averaged nine yards on twenty
three returns being the team's primary
Punt returner and in two seasons, has a
thirty five reception for 512 yards and
four touchdowns. In other draft news,
the San Diego chargers drafted first
round pick (Quarterback) Eli Manning as
the first selection and plan to start
him this season. The San Diego Chargers
came last in their division in last
years standings, having lost twelve
games and won four and had a .250
percentage. The Chargers began as the
Los Angeles Chargers in 1960 in the
American Football League, but only
lasted one season in Los Angeles.

The team moved to San Diego in 1961 where
they changed their name to the San Diego
Chargers. In 1970 the Chargers joined the
National Football League (NFL). They have so
far won one League Championship 1963(AFL),
have won one American Football Conference
Championship in 1994, have nine Division
Championship and have been to the playoffs
since 1960, twelve times. The team stadium
(Qualcomm Stadium) which has a seating
capacity of 71,000, is located in San Diego,
California and was opened on October 6,
1975. Other Stadiums include the Memorial
Coliseum (1960), and the Balboa Stadium, San
Diego (1961-66).
