Founded in 1937 the Saint Louis Rams are a
National Football League team Which is based
in Saint Louis,Missouri.The teams Home
Stadium is known as Edward Jones Dome which
was formerly the Trans World Dome. The Saint
Louis Rams Uniform colors are Navy Blue and
Old Gold.The Helmet design shows golden Ram
horns on a blue background. The Rams Moved
very Frequently, playing in three different
stadiums over several failing seasons.
Between 1937-1945 they were known as the
Cleveland Rams, 1946-1994 the Rams were
known as Los Angeles Rams. The Rams were in
Los Angeles in between 1946-1978 then they
moved to Anaheim in 1979-1994.In 1945 a
remarkable turnaround occurred as rookie
quarterback Bob Waterfield led the Rams to a
9-1 win-loss record and a 15-14 victory over
the Washington Redskins in the NFL
Championship Game. |

Waterfields fellow Quarterback Norm Van
Brocklin Guided the Rams to three
consecutive Western Division
championships between 1949-1951.Los
Angeles won the NFL crown in 1951,
defeating the Cleveland Browns 24-17 in
the championship game. The winning play
was a 73-yard pass from Van Brocklin to
Tom Fears. Wide receiver Elroy "Crazy
Legs" Hirsch led the league that season
with 1,495 yards, and he also scored 17
touchdowns. The Rams’ next conference
title, in 1955, was their last playoff
appearance until 1967.From 1967 to 1969
the Rams were led to Western Division
Titles by the then head coach George
Allen.Chuck Knox took over in 1973 and
led the Rams to Five consecutive
division crowns. |
In
1978 Ray Malavasi took overe as the Head
Coach and continued the good work of his
predissesors extending the team’s streak of
division titles in 1978 and 1979, for a
total of seven straight. Chuck Knox came
back as head Coach in 1992 and posted a
15-33 record over three seasons. |
The Saint Louis Rams defeated the
Tennessee Titans in thge Super Bowl on
January 30, 2000.The Saint Louis Rams
Football Franchise had seven players
Inducted in to the Pro Football Hall Of
Fame. The players are Bob Brown who was
also known as "the Boomer", was an
Offensive tackle in the National
Football League from 1964-1973. Elroy
Hirsch was nicknamed "Crazy Legs" for
his unusual way of running. Elroy was a
Running Back and receiver.Hirsch was
born in Wausau, where he started his
football career with Wausau High School
under legendary high school football
coach Win Brockmeyer. Hirsch played his
first college season with the University
of Wisconsin Badgers in 1942. Eric
Dickerson, Merlin Olsen, Jackie Slater,
Bob Waterfield and Jack Youngblood were
the other five Saint Louis Rams PLayers
who were Inducted into the Pro Football
Hall of Fame. |

The Saint Louis Rams Retired Numbers are
7 belonging to Bob waterfield, 29 which
was Eric Dickersons, 74 being Merlin
Olsens, 78 belonging to Jackie Slater
and lastly number 85 which was won by
Jack Youngblood.The Saint Louis Rams Won
the League Championships once in three
of the four cities in which they have
played, failing in Anaheim.The Rams made
three appearances to the Super Bowl,
they lost twice in Super Bowl XIV AND
XXXVI, winning in XXXIV.For more
